College marks

Formulas

The conversions and thresholds the model runs on. Everything here is editable — changing a number here changes what athletes are told, with no code change and no redeploy.

Thresholds

What each band demands, as a multiple of the conference 8th-place four-year average. Written the way the spreadsheet writes it: ×1.01 means one per cent slower, ÷1.01 one per cent shorter.

EventAidRosterWalk-on Note
100 Meters 8th mark ×1.01 ×1.025
110 Hurdles 8th mark ×1.01 ×1.025
1500 Meters ×1.035 ×1.045 ×1.05
200 Meters 8th mark ×1.01 ×1.025
400 Hurdles 8th mark ×1.01 ×1.025
400 Meters 8th mark ×1.01 ×1.025
5000 Meters ×1.0575 ×1.07 ×1.0725
800 Meters 8th mark ×1.01 ×1.025
Discus ×1.1 ×1.05 8th mark
Hammer ×1.2 ×1.1 8th mark
High Jump 8th mark ÷1.01 ÷1.025
Javelin ×1.2 ×1.1 8th mark
Long Jump 8th mark ÷1.01 ÷1.025
Pole Vault 8th mark ÷1.01 ÷1.025
Shot Put ×1.1 ×1.05 8th mark
Triple Jump 8th mark ÷1.01 ÷1.025
Add or change a threshold

A factor of 1 means the band sits exactly on the 8th-place mark. Aid must be the hardest of the three; if it is not, the row is saved but flagged.

Conversions

How a mark in an event college athletics does not contest becomes one it does. Conversions chain — a 3200m becomes a 3000m, and a 3000m becomes a 5000m.

Athlete entersBecomesNote
Mile ÷ 1.08 1500 Meters
3000 Meters × 1.74 5000 Meters 3000m is an intermediate — it carries no thresholds of its own
1600 Meters ÷ 1.0737 1500 Meters
3200 Meters ÷ 1.0737 3000 Meters
2 Mile × 0.9259 3000 Meters
Add or change a conversion

Both events must share a unit — a time cannot convert into a distance. A conversion that would loop back on itself is refused.

Add an event athletes can enter

For high-school events with no college equivalent, such as the 1600m or the 300m hurdles. Add one here, then give it a conversion above.
